Superior, over-painted, sixth-plate English ambrotype of a delightful young boy with a big grin on his face. It is such a pleasure to see a happy-go-lucky lad surrounded by bright colors- you won’t want to put this one down!  Dressed in a gorgeous, long, black dress with beautiful lace highlights, white socks and black boots, the young man casually leans on a bright red upholstered chair.  The curtains and carpet have been tinted with the same striking red color. On the far left we see a river scene with light blues, and multiple shades of green and brown highlights.  The studio wall has also been tinted a brownish gray color that compliments the rest of the tinting.  The image is in excellent minus condition.  At an angle, in light, we can see a few light lines where the black backing is missing but this is so subtle you won’t notice it since the case has a dark backing underneath the image.  The image is housed in a typical full plain leather English case. These over-painted ambrotypes always are always a cut above the rest. You will love this one!
